Developmental Neuropsychologist
Arielle Berman Albert, Ph.D. obtained her doctorate in clinical psychology from Loyola University and completed internship and fellowship training in pediatric neuropsychology at Harvard Medical School/The Cambridge Health Alliance. Having lived in both Chicago and the Northeast during training, Dr. Albert has the unique fortune to have trained and conducted research at such esteemed sites as Children’s Hospital (both Chicago and Boston), the Yale Child Study Center and Harvard Medical School, where her work focused on the psychological and neurocognitive assessment of children and adolescents with learning and attentional disorders, and traumatic brain injury, treating children with challenging emotional and behavioral difficulties. She regularly provides consultation to families, schools and social service agencies. Before returning to Chicago, Dr. Albert was a practice owner at Connecticut Pediatric Neuropsychology Associates, where she worked since 2004, and had an adjunct faculty appointment at the University of Connecticut Medical School as Clinical Associate within the Department of Psychiatry, where she was involved in the training of post doctoral fellows in pediatric neuropsychology. Dr. Albert is licensed in both Illinois and Connecticut.
Specialty areas of research and practice include psychological and neurocognitive assessment with children, adolescents and young adults, including diagnosing learning and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorders; assessing the emotional and cognitive status of patients with acquired neurocognitive disorders secondary to neurologic disorder or injury; assessing temperament and impulse control difficulties; evaluating eligibility for school or test accommodations; the treatment of emotional disorders in children and adolescents and treatment outcome with pharmacologic intervention; substance use prevention among adolescents; and consultation to parents interested in learning more about their children’s conditions and optimizing compensatory skills and behavioral management techniques used at home.
