Associate Director of Neuropsychology
Lisa A. Sworowski, Ph.D., ABPP is the Associate Director of our Neuropsychology Clinic. She obtained her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Kansas, completed fellowship training in neuropsychology at the University of Chicago, and is board certified in neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. She holds an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine where she teaches neuroanatomy and lectures on such topics as multiple sclerosis, movement disorders and the cognitive effects of substance abuse. She additionally supervises doctoral level students in forensic neuropsychology at the Isaac Ray Forensic Group in Chicago. Dr. Sworowski is licensed in Illinois, Indiana and North Carolina.
Prior to joining Michigan Avenue Neuropsychologists, Dr. Sworowski coordinated a large-scale research grant on HIV and substance abuse at the University of Illinois and consulted to a Multiple Sclerosis Clinic. Specialty areas of research and practice include psychological and neuropsychological assessment of adult and geriatric patients, including multiple sclerosis, dementia, traumatic brain injury, and AIDS-related cognitive decline; treatment of patients adjusting to neurologic injury or diagnosis; meeting the mental health needs of public safety and occupational medicine agencies; and the cognitive-behavioral treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, including post traumatic stress disorder.
